The "aircraft hole" like it appears today.
Locally known as
"Sentier du Souvenir" and located between the towns of AIZENAY and LA
ROCHE SUR YON, on the edge of the Forest of Aizenay is a beautiful memorial
dedicated to the brave men who died in the crash of 'Big Red' The "aircraft hole" is still visible
today. This is here that my father (André-Luc GOARANT) and I (Olivier GOARANT)
have found many dispersed parts from the B-17.
Anne-Marie VRIGNAUD and Danny Mc Gahan (Irish man who did many researches about
"Big Red", he's the "Big Red Flying
Fortress" website's webmaster) helped us in our researches.
